The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged.

For more information on the terms of participation and funding opportunities for this event please access the meeting website or contact the  local organisers directly

The objective of the course is to provide participants with an introduction to all aspects of RNA Biology, starting from the evolution of this molecule at the beginning of life on Earth, its many functions in regulating gene expression, and  its importance in a variety of monogenic and complex diseases.

Participants will obtain the necessary knowledge-base to understand the latest findings in the field and an up-to-date view of the major research topics in RNA research today especially in the field of RNA processing (splicing, editing, transport, etc.) and protein translation. In particular the role played by non-coding RNAs in affecting gene expression will also be presented in depth.

The course  will also offer the possibility for students to extensively interact with members of the faculty, distinguished professional scientists with considerable standing in the RNA field, and  receive advice and mentoring with regards to their future scientific careers. Interaction with fellow students from ICGEB Member States will additionally foster the creation of scientific fellowships that may well prove important for the future growth of participants as part of an international scientific community.

Opportunities will also be given to students to briefly present their own work if they are already actively involved in projects that are consistent with the aims of the Course.
