Meetings and Courses - Impact

ICGEB has been providing excellent opportunities to the international scientific community for direct interaction with forerunners of internationally recognised science since 1988.
Over 400 topical courses, workshops and scientific conferences and meetings organised. Well-established rates of success and popularity of the Centre's annual meetings and courses (Figures 1-2), attest to a total of over 18,000 participants worldwide. Data made available by local organisers of 374 of these events, shows that over 14,300 scientists in the ICGEB network have been able to directly benefit from this programme.
In the context of the 2012 Meetings and Courses Programme, 46 proposals have been received from 22 Member States to organise a meeting at one of the three ICGEB Components, or in Member STates. The amount committed for these activities is in the region of Euro 420,000.
A major meeting on "Frontiers in Cardiac and Vascular Regeneration", organised by Mauro Giacca, will be held in Trieste in May-June 2012 to launch the series of conferences on topics of Molecular Medicine dedicated to the memory of Prof. Arturo Falaschi, founder and former Director General of the ICGEB.
