Organized by Lawrence Banks, ICGEB Trieste, and Greg Matlashewshi, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, this meeting is held once every two years and brings together international experts and junior researchers from countries where Leishmaniasis is endemic.

This provides a unique forum for establishing collaborations and discussion on the latest developments in the treatment and prevention of the disease. The current version of the meeting was host to 50 researchers representing over 25 different countries. Topics covered included new therapies, latest epidemiological trends and novel means of detection and prevention. A practical component also provided hands on training in the latest bioinformatic tools for analysing different Leishmania genomic data sets.

ICGEB Workshop on Human Papillomavirus: from Basic Biology to Cancer Prevention, 8-10 November, Hong Kong, China

The 2nd ICGEB Workshop on Human Papillomavirus will take place at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The meeting provides a forum for experts and junior researchers to discuss developments in HPV research and cancer prevention, with particular emphasis on the needs and problems of the region.

This is a unique forum for bringing together basic research scientists, clinicians, epidemiologists and local health care providers to discuss all aspects of Human Papillomavirus-induced disease and to promote improvements in treatment and prevention through enhanced international collaboration.
