International Arturo Falaschi Conference on Atypical Dementias, Trieste, 21-23 Nov 2017

The 4th Arturo Falaschi Conference will be taking place next week in Trieste. This year the Conference, organised by Emanuele Buratti, Group Leader, Molecular Pathology, ICGEB Trieste, will bring together an international faculty, including speakers from the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the University of Brescia, The University of British Columbia, The University of Edinburgh, the Mayo Clinic and UCSF Medical Center.

Hundreds of participants from across the globe will be in Trieste for the three-day conference, which will discuss breaking news in Frontotemporal Dementia and Frontotemporal Dementia-Motor Neuron Disease, Alzheimer Disease and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy as well as rare forms of dementia, including dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinson Disease dementia.

Dementias represent the most common neurodegenerative disorder in the adult population of over 65 year-olds, with an incidence of 5%. These constitute a challenge for both clinicians and researchers due to the diverse and unusual clinical manifestations of the types of diseases that also render diagnosis complex.

The Conference also offers a unique opportunity for professionals in the field to interact directly with patients and families from the Italian Association for Frontotemporal Diseases (AIMFT), during a parallel session to take place at the Stazione Marittima on 22 November 2017.

The Conference series is named after Arturo Falaschi, the mind and driving force in the founding and development of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
