The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The advent of next generation sequencing (NGS), proteomics and other high-throughput technologies have provided opportunities for the development of innovative strategies for disease diagnosis, prognostication and prediction, hence paving the way for true precision medicine. This meeting will provide an overview of the current and future use of these techniques in the diagnostic setup of malignant, inherited and communicable diseases.

Topics

NGS techniques and bioinformatic analysis. NGS-based diagnostics in solid tumors, hematological malignancies, inherited and infectious diseases. Proteomic-based approaches for biomarker discovery. Predictive biomarkers and personalized treatment strategies.

Participants

Laboratory scientists and clinicians interested in learning about latest developmentstl_files/Meetings/2018/FYRmacedonia2018/MAC1801_Flyer_Rev7Dec17.png in the field. Applicants are encouraged to submit abstracts related to the topics covered by the Workshop. Abstracts of not more than 250 words, typed in MS Word should be sent by an e-mail (icgibmanu.edu.mk) not later than February 23, 2018. Selected abstracts will be presented in a poster session and will be published in a special issue of the Balkan Journal of Medical Genetics.
Participation is subject to selection. The Organizers will select participants on the basis of their CV and potential benefit for their career. Geographical and gender balance, as well as priority order in the registration, will also be considered.
Selected participants will be notified and will need to finalize their registration with payment of a registration fee of 100 Euro, which includes access to sessions, meeting materials, opening reception and dinner. A limited number of rooms at discounted rates is available for interested participants at a 3 star hotel (Ibis Skopje City Center; single room 57 Euro/night, double room 64 Euro/night) and at a 5 star hotel Skopje Marriott Hotel; single room 101 Euro/night, double room 111 Euro/night) in the center of Skopje.

Funding

A limited number of grants will be available for nationals of ICGEB Member States to waive the registration fee and cover accommodation and local hospitality for the duration of the workshop. Priority will be given to participants with an accepted abstract for presentation at the meeting.
