The Workshop aims at covering recent and exciting developments on autophagy that are crucial to the understanding of the multifaceted role of this cellular process and as a possible therapeutic point of intervention in different human diseases such as cancer, neuro-degenerative, inflammatory, metabolic, and pathogen infections.



  • Molecular machinery in autophagy     
  • Autophagosome formation and maturation

  • Autophagy regulation in health and diseases

  • Selective autophagy, types and mechanisms

  • Selective autophagy in the pathophysiology of complex diseases

  • Autophagy in cancer

  • Autophagy in diabetes

  • Autophagy in neurodegenerative diseases

  • Autophagy in intestinal inflammatory diseases



  • Researchers involved in the field of genetics, molecular biology, cellular biology, physiology, pathology, cancer, diabetes, inflammatory diseases

  • Poster sessions will also be organized

  • PostDocs and PhD Students are welcome to attend



  • Participants are expected to cover their own travel and living costs

  • A limited number of grants, covering accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality for the duration of the course, are available to a selected number of nationals of ICGEB Member States

  • Limited travel contribution will additionally be available
